Choirokitia & Famagusta Guided Tour from Paphos
Alright, adventure seekers – get ready for a tour that’ll have you feeling like Indiana Jones (minus the fedora and whip, unfortunately).
First stop: Choirokoitia for a coffee break. Because let’s be honest – no adventure can start without some caffeine.
Next up: Strovilia checkpoint. Passport at the ready, folks – we’re crossing the United Nations Green Line! (And sorry to our friends from Turkmenistan, Nigeria, Syria, and Armenia – you won’t be able to cross the checkpoint).
Once we arrive at the monastery of St Barnabas (now converted into a museum), get ready to check out some seriously cool icons and other religious artifacts. And don’t forget to say hi to the tomb of St Barnabas while you’re there.
We’re not done yet, folks. We’ll continue to the ancient Kingdom of Salamis, built in the 12th Century BC. Prepare to visit the arena and gymnasium – and trust us, you’ll feel like a gladiator in no time.
Last but not least: Famagusta. Gothic churches and Venetian walls abound in this city, and we have plenty of time for sightseeing and shopping. And make sure to visit the Cathedral of St Nikolaos – it was built in 1312 and converted into a mosque in 1570, so it’s got some serious history.
But wait, there’s more. We’ll take a short walk to visit part of the “Ghost Town – Varosi.” It’s a bit spooky, sure, but also seriously awesome.
Imagine abandoned houses and hotels closed off behind wire since 1974. And don’t forget to admire the best sandy beaches on the island while you’re there.
So what are you waiting for? Join us on this epic adventure and prepare to feel like a true explorer.
