Paphos Lighthouse

We’re talking about the well-known Paphos Lighthouse inside the Archaeological Park of Kato Pafos.

First up, it’s situated on Paphos Point, and get this – it was built in 1888 when Cyprus was under British administration.

The Paphos Lighthouse is a magnificent 20m high structure with whitewashed masonry featuring a lantern and a gallery. 

In addition to the tower, a keeper’s house and accessory buildings are located within the compound.

The Paphos Lighthouse, previously a landfall marker for shipping destined to Paphos Harbour, is now a popular attraction.

But wait, there’s more. Back then, the whole of Cyprus was a critical military base for the British, who protected the route of ships traveling through the Suez Canal straight to the British colonies.
