Chrysoroyiatissa Monastery
Let me show you this off-the-beaten-path gem in Paphos: the Chrysoroyiatissa Monastery!
This place is dedicated to Our Lady of the Golden Pomegranate, 820 meters high and about 40 km northeast of Paphos.
Founded by a monk named Ignatius in the 12th century, this 18th-century building is surrounded by its vineyards, producing excellent wine!
Being at the birthplace of the late Archbishop Makarios adds a unique local touch to the annual Virgin Mary celebrations.
This local landmark boasts a winery below ground that served as a wine producer in the past –
So you get a fascinating slice of history along with your glass of red (check out the Agios Elias!).
And oh, the view! It’s stunning, uncommercialized, and a great place to snap a few pictures.
