Archaeological Museum of the Paphos District
Welcome to the Pafos District Archaeological Museum, where artifacts from the Neolithic Age to 1700 AD are carefully displayed in five rooms.
This museum is a must-see for anyone visiting Paphos and keen to explore the history of the region.
You’ll discover fascinating objects from Palaipafos (Kouklia), Nea Pafos, and Marion-Arsinoe (Polis), as well as find hidden gems from Pegeia, Kissonerga, Lempa, Pano Arodes, Salamiou, Akourdalia, Pomos, Kidasi, and Geroskipou.
This place is fascinating and, hands down, a must-see landmark. The museum has five rooms that will transport you right back through time.
Here is a quick round-up of what you’ll find:
The first room
Covers the Neolithic, Chalcolithic, and Bronze Age.
You’ll get to see many exciting exhibits, including coins cut from the mint of Pafos.
The second room
gives you a taste of the Iron Age and Classical period; look out for a tombstone from Marion with an impressive Cyprosyllabic script.
Third room
presents the fantastic Hellenistic and Roman periods, including a rare marble bust of Aphrodite and a stunning marble statue of Asklepios.
Fourth room
The room showcases exhibits from the late Roman and early Christian times.
It’s the perfect opportunity to catch fascinating glimpses of history.
Newer fifth room
General exhibits from the Byzantine Period and the Middle Ages.
This room is where art and history come together to captivate your imagination.
Don’t miss your chance to explore all five rooms and go on a thrilling journey through the ages!
As a local, I can’t recommend this museum enough – it showcases treasures from the spectacular Archaeological Park at Kato Paphos and the Tombs of the Kings.
If you’ve already visited those sites, you won’t want to miss out on this hidden gem.
