There are a few ways to reach this little slice of heaven by car, but we’ll be honest – some are better than others. If you’re coming from Coral Bay, buckle up – it will be a bumpy ride.

But if you’re coming from Paphos, you’re in luck. The road is smooth sailing (or smooth driving, we should say) and suitable for any vehicle… as long as you’re coming from the right direction.

Once you arrive, prepare to be blown away by the sights. There’s a museum (don’t expect much… it’s a very small one) and two pools – lower and upper.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, head down to the lower pool and check out the tree with ropes. We won’t judge you if you feel like being a bit of a monkey and doing some rope-jumping like Tarzan.

Now, fair warning – the road to Adonis Baths is a bit of a trek. You’ll need to navigate a long dirt road unsuitable for a regular car.

But trust us – the view at the end is worth every bump and jostle.

Nestled in the quaint village of Kili, Adonis Baths is a hotspot in Paphos, Cyprus, offering a serene atmosphere and a history as colorful as a Greek myth.

According to local lore, this was Adonis’s hangout, where he’d chill with his horses and go hunting in the Akamas forest.

It was also apparently a favorite love nest for him and Aphrodite, the goddess of love, who supposedly had many kids here—making the people of Paphos their proud descendants.

But, as with any juicy myth, jealousy crept in, with Artemis, the Goddess of Hunting, trying to end Adonis’s divine days.

She first tried to get his attention with a golden almond, but Poseidon, the Sea God, played lifeguard and diverted the almond with a torrent.

Artemis then teamed up with Mars, the God of War, to try to squash Adonis with a mountain.

Talk about overkill! Luckily, Poseidon was again rescued, stopping the rocks and saving Adonis.

But fate had other plans, and while out hunting, Adonis met his end at the tusks of a wild boar, dying dramatically in Aphrodite’s arms.

Heartbroken, Aphrodite convinced Zeus to let Adonis return to Earth for half the year, a tradition still believed to this day. 

Adding to the mystique, Adonis Baths is tied to the legendary Digenis Akritas, who, as the story goes, straddled the River Mavrokolymbos and sipped from the baths, leaving behind a spot now known as “Digenis feet.”
