Cedar Valley
Alright, folks – let me tell you about Cedar Valley, the hidden gem nestled within the Pafos Forest.
This place is like a dream come true for tree lovers – thousands of endemic Cedrus brevifolia species (aka Cedar trees) as far as the eye can see.
And get this – they’re actually related to the famous cedars of Lebanon.
I know I know – it doesn’t get more impressive than that. But wait, there’s more! There are also some Calabrian pines (Pinus brutia) hanging out in the valley, which adds to the peaceful seclusion vibe.
Now, getting here isn’t easy – you’ll have to take a country road that joins the village of Panagia with the monastery of Panagia tou Kykkou. But trust me. It’s worth it.
And if you’re feeling extra adventurous, make your way to Stavros tis Psokas, another mountain locality where you can catch a glimpse of the rare and shy Mouflon (Ovis gmelini ophion), an endemic species of wild sheep found exclusively on the island.
But even if you’re not a nature buff, the remnants of three old Venetian mountain bridges are sure to impress.
Stroll around the area and soak up the sights – you won’t regret it.
